sent to Hospital. He fell about 200 yards from the wire.

1st Kumaon Rifles.

No.11845 Rfn. Tej Singh states:-

I was in the Guard at MA TAU CHUNG on January 9th.

when at about 17.45 hrs. the alarm was sounded by No.3 sentry.

I stood to with the remainder of the Guard. I saw a Chinese

running across the fields and No.3 sentry was firing at him.

No.3 Sentry then ceased fire. Subadar Debi Datt the Camp

Commandant then ordered me to fire. I fired one shot and

No. 489 Police Sergeant Bakhshish Singh states:-

I was onsduty at HA TAU CHUNG Camp on January 9th. At about 17.45 hrs. I heard the alarm sounded from the direction

of No.3 Sentry. About half minute later while I was running

in that direction I heard some shots and saw a Chinese

running across the fields. There were five shots and the Chinese was hit with the last shot. He was then about 150x from the camp.

He ran another 50% and then fell down. I

ran up with some riflemen and brought him back to camp.
